Slow Down Your Busy Life?

Learn ways to easily slow down and relax, how to better cope with overwhelm, to recognize and define priorities, and tips to make time for yourself.

Recently I've been talking with women who are struggling with feelings of overwhelm from not having enough time with family and friends; trying to keep up with looming deadlines; juggling too many responsibilities and not having any time for themselves…  As women, we tend to overfill our lives, to show up for others, to always be givers.

As the saying goes you can't pour from an empty cup… when you are tired, when you are stressed, when you are overwhelmed and perhaps underappreciated, not only is your work life affected but more importantly your personal life is affected. Family and friends notice. You are affected in more ways than you know.

There are a number of simple ways to help yourself begin to make time for yourself and begin a slower paced life. Nothing scary or drastic. Small steps to get you to consider dumping that life of constant busyness. Here are two simple ones:

1. Disconnect from TV & Social Media - set doable parameters
2. Create lists in your journal - What challenges am I ready to face; Things I could do if I were brave enough; My favorite places to escape and make time for myself; How I treat myself…

We overfill our lives hoping more will make us feel like enough. It takes courage to say No to others and say Yes to ourselves.
